Early morning ride

Sunday morning.

I left home just before 7.00am for a ride around the Elsthorpe loop.   I decided to anticlockwise but a few kms down Middle road and came up to heavy fog.   That prompted me to turn around and do the ride the other way.

The ride was TeMata Road, Waimarama Road, Kahuranaki Road, Elsthorpe Road, Middle Road.  Very nice roads and no traffic.

I was home at 8am.

Hawkes Bay Toy Run

The Toy Run was a benefit ride for Birthright.

I headed into the start point in Plunket Road Hastings just after 1000hrs.  There were some 400 bikes, many HDs and a few old bikes.

The ride departed the start just after 1100hrs and we headed for Anderson Park in Napier via Havelock North and Ahurihi.   Lunch was BBQ sausage in bread.   It was a warm day and a good ride.

I left early and headed home.

Have not had many rides.  Two weeks ago did a little ride from Havelock North to Napier and back via a few back roads.  Only a short time on the bike of less than an hour.  It was good and I saw parts of HB had'nt seen.

Tomorrow a Toy Run with HB Ulysses is a real possibility.

First Ride from Havelock North

The Hayabusa was moved to Havelock North when we shifted home and first ride was Sunday 25/08/2013.   I only had time for a short ride and did a loop from Havelock North around the back of Te Mata Peak, over the Tuki Tuki bridge and along the Eastern side of the river to Haumoana.  This side of the river is a nice road with some interesting corners, marked with 35 and 25km advisory speeds.   I finished the loop back to Te Mata road into the village and back home.

Sunday Ride

Alan had a ride planned to Martinborough for Sunday.   I joined him at his place around 10:30am and we headed straight to Martinborough.  We stopped for lunch at at cafe on the road into the square and then headed to Greytown, Carterton, back roads to Martinborough and then back over the hill.  At Mayborn we took the back roads to the Short Straw Cafe in Whitemans valley, for another coffee and then home.

The weather was mixed - rain on the hill, some spits in the rapa and it got cold.  It was warmer in the valley and at home.

Arrived home at 4.30pm.   252Kms.

I missed the ride last night and there was a large turnout.  So I went to meeting of the Thursday night riders.   They went over the hill and I then went home.  There were some very nice bikes there.

Ngawhi

The weather today was almost perfect for a decent ride - only problem was that it got too hot.   I left home at 10.28 and dropped by to meet up with Alan.   We had a fuel stop at Featherston for the HD and then went straight to Ngawhi.   A stop for food and a look around and then we headed to Martinborough.  This was a coffee stop and chat to an English rider who had just purchased a new 675 Daytona.

From there it was home and I finished the ride at 4.00pm.  276kms.

TCWNR

18 bikes at the meeting point.  At 6.45pm they headed off to Featherston.  I was last to leave and stayed in that position all the way.  It was a semi sedate group ride with no heroics.  At Featherston I turned around and came straight back, arriving at home at around 8.10pm.

Anniversary Day loop

Today is Wellington Anniversary Day.  We were in cloud all morning and it was a toss up to ride or not.   However, once I got to Petone the sky changed from cloud to blue.   I then decided to just ride the Haywards loop and return home via SH1.  In addition I rode around the inlet and back.

A short but enjoyable ride.

Alan and I turned around at the Caltex station and came back. We stopped in Lower Hutt for a coffee and I was home just after 8.00pm

Yesterday - WOF and rides

Yesterday I went into WMC early to obtain a WOF. I got there when they opened and was the first customer. The WOF took near to an hour and during the wait had a coffee and contacted Alan who was also to get a WOF. That exercise took most of the morning. Early afternoon Alan called by and we headed to Makara beach and then Plimmerton for a coffee. Then it was home via SH1.

Last Ride for 2012

My last ride was on 31 December. It was into Wellington and a visit to WMC and Motorad. The hayabusa has 36770 on the odo which means I only did 6770kms last year; a very quiet motorcycling year. Building a house in Havelock North and commuting between there and Wellington from around April will mean few kms on the bike and a lot in the car.
